A CAT AND A BUG

      There once was a cat,
I loved him so much,
His name was Pat,
And he was Dutch.

    Pat had a friend,
And he was small,
He was a bug,
and he lived in my hall.

    They both sadly died,
We had a good bawl,
Though grief I have tried,
No bugs in my hall!

Arthur Dale

Arthur Dale was the only child of a poor widow. His mother had to work very hard to earn a living for herself and her little boy.
Arthur was then year old. He wished very much to help his mother. Arthur was going to town to look for a small job. He was going down a lane, and he saw a shop and on the door it said, "Need employees", so Arthur went in. There it smelled like candles. "Hello!", said Arthur.
   "Hi," someone said.
"I came for a job," said Arthur.
"Oh, come here," said the man.
Arthur went over there and the man said, "So, you want a job?" And Arthur said yes. The man said ok, and that he could come on Tuesday.
So on Tuesday Arthur went to the candle shop and he worked there and in 2 weeks he had $22. Then he spent it to buy food and when he got home his mother fainted.

My LIfe as a Book

My name is The Most Wonderful Winter. My story is about a little girl in an orphanage who wanted to be adopted by some very nice people.

I just was bought by some poor lady with 10 kids. My owner, a 10-year-old girl who seems quite nice, just started reading me.

This girl carries me everywhere - in her sleep, to the market, everywhere! She only has sisters - nine of them. They're always trying to steal me! Their names are Ana, Annie, Oma, Ameila, Abigail, Abby, Tracy, Trace, and my owner, Tina. That's my life!

Book Review: Shades of Gray

Shades of Gray, by Carolyn Reeder

Out of all the books I have read Shades of Gray is ranked about #47.

The main character is Will Page.He lost his whole family in the Civil War.His brother died while taunting the Yankees, his dad died while fighting for the confederates. His sisters died from a disease, and his mother died of grief.
Will Page did not like the Yankees, so when he is forced by his mothers will, to go live with his aunt and uncle, Will does not like it. Even though his uncle lives in a confederate area, Will's uncle decides not to fight with the confederates. Will does not like it and calls his uncle a coward, but he changes his mind when his cousin Meg convinces him that her dad is not a coward, and that they have had some tragedies of their own.
In the end Will has to decide whether to stay or to go to his dad's kind friend.  I won't tell you what he chose - you should read it.

Little Red Riding Hood...

(....the jcpenney version.)

One day a little girl was taking goodies to her grandma, when she saw a wolf!

"What do you have in the basket?" asked the wolf.

"Why do you want to know?" Little Red Riding Hood said.

"Because I like goodies!" he said while running after her. Then the wolf disappeared and the little girl didn't know where she was!

One day, the little girl's grandma went to hunt for deer. Then when she was gone, the wolf went into her house and dressed like her. Little Red Riding Hood went in her grandma's house and said, "I'm here!"

The wolf said, "Just bring them in here!"

Then she came in and said, "What big eyes you have! What big ears you have! And what big teeth you have!"

Then the wolf ate her (and the goodies)!

Then the grandma came in, and the wolf only ate the deer - he was a little full.

USA Poem

USA has churches,
churches that are good,
churches that are Christian, faithful, and dependent.

USA has plants,
lots of plants indeed,
and the one that we like best,
is beautiful to see.

USA has other things,
the things that I won't say.
USA is wonderful in many different

                                                         ways.

Book Review: Uncle Tom's Cabin

This is spicy llama 1# with a book review on UNCLE TOMS CABIN, by Harriet Beecher Stowe.

Out of all the books I have read uncle toms cabin is ranked about 30th, and don't think that is bad because I have read a MILLION books.

Uncle Tom's Cabin was about a man - probably in his 40s - being sold to a nice family. The master of the nice family died. The man's wife, who was not as nice, sold all the slaves to different places. Uncle Tom was sold to a very evil man named Legree. Legree was very mean to Tom, but Tom had a few friends there. Even though his master was very mean, Tom kept his head high. Legree whipped and whipped Tom because he thought he helped two slaves run away (but Uncle Tom didn't). Legree kept trying to get it out of him, and eventually, he whipped Tom so much that Tom was near death. His words made Legree's negro overseers come to respect him, and they tried to help him, but he still died. There's a lot more to the story than this, so you should read it.

I thought that it was almost perfect. There was one thing wrong with it: it would go into these deep talks, and I had no idea what she (the author) was talking about. The talks would be short though. I enjoyed reading it.
